Of the 10,407 students attending Kendall County schools, 56.7% were white. Hispanic students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 37.2% of the total enrollment.
In the previous school year, white students also made up the largest ethnic group in Kendall County, comprising 57.8% of the student body.
Boerne Middle South had the most even distribution of races among the schools in the county, which included 49% white students, 40.3% Hispanic students, 5.1% Asian students, 3.7% multiracial students, 1.6% Black students, 0.2% American Indian students, and 0.1% Pacific Islander students.
When compared to the previous school year, total public school enrollment in the county increased by 1.4%.
“As a result, many districts in our very own Central Texas region are being forced to cut back on essential programs, services, consider school closures, and adopt deficit budgets just to provide students with the education that they deserve,” Hutto ISD Trustee James Matlock said.
