To accelerate its bold trajectory, UTSA will raise funds at its third annual UTSA Giving Day, planned for April 4 and 5, 2023. With a theme of “Build the Nest,” UTSA Giving Day will rally the entire UTSA community to raise funds and awareness for programs across the university. All students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to support their favorite colleges and programs.
Last year, more than $577,000 was raised from a record 2,747 donors. All gifts on UTSA Giving Day contribute to the ongoing Be Bold: A Campaign for Our Future, a comprehensive, $500 million fundraising campaign in support of the university’s 10-year strategic vision.
“The past success of UTSA Giving Day—made possible by our incredible donors, ambassadors and champions—highlights our community’s commitment to advancing our student-driven mission,” said UTSA President Taylor Eighmy. “The support of our donors continues to be critical to advancing UTSA’s trajectory toward becoming a model public research university, and I look forward to this year’s Giving Day to continue building on our momentum together.”

⇒ Ambassadors are vital to success on UTSA Giving Day. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, friends and members of campus organizations are encouraged to get involved to #BuildtheNest by sharing about UTSA Giving Day on social media or sending texts/emails to encourage others to participate.

UTSA Giving Day takes place over 1,969 minutes—or 32 hours, 49 minutes—in honor of the university’s founding year. The online fundraising event begins at 10:11 a.m. Central Time on Tuesday, April 4 and concludes at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5.
For 2023, the goal is to have at least 3,000 donors contributing to programs from across the university. Participants can direct their gifts to the university’s colleges or other key programs, including the UTSA Libraries, the Spirit of San Antonio marching band and the Roadrunner Pantry, as well as Mental Health/Well-Being Initiatives, UTSA Athletics, Student Emergency Funds, the Fostering Futures program and many more.
“With each gift on UTSA Giving Day, donors are helping write student success stories,” said Karl Miller-Lugo, vice president for advancement and alumni engagement. “Ultimately, the effort is all about making an impact and celebrating what is special about UTSA.”
UTSA Giving Day progress will be tracked on the 2023 website, including totals for each participating program, as well as the goal to receive gifts from every state in the nation.
Colleges and projects will compete to receive additional funding for their efforts to raise dollars and donors. Dozens of challenges and generous matching opportunities are expected to be available again to enhance the impact of individual donations. Last year, UTSA Athletics took the top awards for most dollars and donors raised.
The first UTSA Giving Day took place in 2021. Between the inaugural Giving Day and last year’s efforts, UTSA has raised more than $921,000 in donations to the university.
Groups interested in having a project listed on the UTSA Giving Day website may email the task force at givingday@utsa.edu.
In addition to giving, another way to participate is by sharing the event on social media using the hashtags #BuildtheNest and #UTSA with graphics and messages from the online toolkit.
