Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine has ranked San Antonio College (SAC), Northwest Vista College (NVC) and Palo Alto College (PAC) in several categories on the list for Top 25 Community Colleges for Hispanics.
The list recognizes community colleges across the country that serve the highest number of Hispanic/Latino students.
NVC, SAC and PAC are all Hispanic-Serving Institutions and each have a current Hispanic enrollment of than 64% or higher.
The Alamo Colleges District is recognized as follows:
- SAC ranks #14, NVC #15 and PAC #25 on the list of the Top 25 Community Colleges in the nation for Hispanic/Latino students (using data from Fall 2020)
- NVC ranks #3, SAC #5 and PAC #6 for associate degrees granted to Hispanic/Latino students in the southern region (using data from 2019-2020)
- NVC ranks #11 and SAC #13 for associate degrees granted to Hispanic/Latino students (using data from 2019-2020)
Hispanic Outlook said over the past year, community colleges have faced enormous challenges as they navigate a pandemic, and at the same time, as they strive to provide their students – who are frequently first-generation learners, full or part-time workers, single parents and minorities – with the best opportunities for improving their skills and moving forward in their careers.
