The Boerne-Champion girls’ basketball squad traveled to Buda to take on the Johnson Jaguars on Jan. 7, and came away with a lopsided victory, by a score of 57-31, to improve to 20-5 on the season.
The win was the 11th straight win for the Chargers, who were led by a senior Khiara Flugence, who was lights out going 8-for-9 shooting with 22 points to lead all scorers. She secured the double/double with 10 rebounds to go along with two steals and two assists.
Junior Madyson Marquard also got into double figures with 13 points, including going 3-for-7 from the three-point range. She added four assists and a rebound.
Senior Kristen Borgerding had six points, six boards and a steal and fellow senior Adri Davenport scored eight points including a pair of threes. Davenport also had four boards, two steals and an assist.
Overall it was a great shooting night for the Chargers at 54% from the field. The team also showed its range going 6 for 11 from three-point land.
The Boerne-Champion boys’ basketball team won its seventh straight game to improve to 19-5 with a 60-47 win over Johnson.
The name of the game was shooting efficiency as the Chargers shot 53% from the field to only 39% for Johnson. The Chargers went 44% from behind the arc compared to 28% for Johnson and 82% from the free-throw line to 67% for the Jaguars.
The Chargers also out-rebounded the Jaguars 24 to 22 and had eight steals to five for Johnson.
