Boerne Greyhounds win fifth straight to improve to 16-6

The Boerne boys’ basketball team traveled to San Antonio to take on the Young Men’s Leadership Academy on Jan. 4, and the Greyhounds came away with a 68-55 win against a tough opponent to improve to 16-6.

A two-headed-monster of Devin Styles and Barrett Pape led the way for the Greyhounds. Styles was 11-of-14 shooting with 27 points to lead all scorers while Pape was 7-of-11 with 21 points. Styles added six boards, two assists and a steal. Pape had four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Houston Hendrix added eight points and filled the stat sheet with six boards, five assists and five steals. Koen Wolff had seven points and five assists. Trevor Agarwal scored three points and had three assists and a steal.

Shooting was the clear advantage for the Greyhounds who went 65% from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. The Young Men’s Leadership Academy shot 48%, however the team was solid from long range going 9-for-19. In the assist department the Greyhounds had a major advantage of 20 to 10.

This was the fifth straight win for the Greyhounds.
