On Jan. 4 Boerne-Champion girls’ basketball beat the Tivy Antlers 46-34 to improve to 19-5 after six straight wins.
Madyson Marquad was the scoring leader with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting including going 4-for-5 from the three-point range. Seniors Khiara Flugence and Kristen Borgerding each had 10 points apiece. Overall the Boerne-Champion shot 53% from the floor.
Flugence completed a double/double with 10 boards. Borgerding also did well on the glass with five boards that were all on offensive end. Marquard added a rebound, two assists and three steals.
The girls’ basketball team went 5-0 over the holiday break including a four wins at the Boerne
ISD Holiday Tournament to improve to 18-5.
The Chargers started the tournament on Dec. 27 with a 43-27 win over New Braunfels. Flugence was the top scorer with 13 points to go with seven boards and a pair of steals. Borgerding also reached double figures with a 10-point showing.
The Chargers out-rebounded New Braunfels 22-17.
The second game on Dec. 27 was a 47-31 win over La Vernia. Marquard scored 18 points and Borgerding scored 10 points to go with seven boards.
On Dec. 28 the Chargers blew out Floresville 57-7 in a game in which they shot 69% as a team.
Borgerding scored 17 points and Addison Hankins had nine points.
The final game of the tournament was a 53-36 win over Katy Taylor, with Flugence scoring 24
points on 10-for-11 shooting. She also had seven rebounds and three steals. Adriana Barreiro
had nine assists and two steals in the win. As a team the Chargers shot 70%.
On Dec. 31 the Chargers took on Seguin and came away with a 50-26 victory where Marquard
scored 24 points including three three pointers. Barreiro scored six points on three three
pointers. Flugence added eight points and four rebounds. Borgerding had 10 rebounds in the
game.
