Boerne-Champion basketball teams off to 13-5 records

Boerne-Champion basketball is off to a good start for both the boys and girls teams.

B-C boys take two of three

The Boerne-Champion boys basketball team improved to 13-5 after a win on the road when they knocked off Lehman 79-21 on Dec. 20.

Boerne-Champion shot well from beyond the arc at 46% and shot 44% from the field overall, compared to only 28% from the field by Lehman. The Chargers out-rebounded Lehman 37 to 17 and had 18 assists compared to only two for Lehman. The Chargers also had 12 steals compared to two for the home team.

On Dec. 17, the Chargers hosted the Veterans Memorial Patriots and lost 43-35. It was evenly matched in most categories, with the Chargers out-rebounding the Patriots 35 to 24. However, the Chargers were held to only 6% shooting from three-point land in the loss.

On Dec. 14, the Chargers traveled to Alamo Heights and picked up a 62-42 win. The Chargers outshot Alamo Heights 45% to 38% and were also very efficient from the free throw line at 89%. 

Boerne-Champion girls win three blow-outs

The Lady Chargers improved to 13-5 on the season with three big wins including on Dec. 20 when Boerne-Champion beat Lehman 57-6.

Kristen Borgerding led the team with 15 points and went 6-for-7 from the floor. She also had three boards, an assist and a steal. Khiara Flugence went 5-for-10 shooting with 11 points to go along with eight boards, two blocks, a steal and an assist.

On Dec. 17, Boerne-Champion traveled to Veterans Memorial and won 49-30. The Chargers led the entire way and were up 30-18 at the half. B-C shut out Veterans Memorial in the third quarter 14-0, and while VM outscored the Chargers 12-5 in the final quarter, it wasn'tnearly enough to oversomce three quarters of B-C domination.

Borgerding had 14 points on 8-of-12 shooting, along with seven boards, two steals and an assist. Flugence had 13 points, nine boards, two assists, a steal and a block. Marquard had 10 points, six boards, four assists and two steals.

On Dec. 14, the Chargers hosted Alamo Heights and won 54-24. Flugence was the top scorer with 18 points and also had seven boards, a block, an assist and a steal. Borgerding posted a double/double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Madyson Marquard had 14 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
