Boerne-Champion girls' basketball goes 2-2 in tournament play, drops conference game

Last week, the Boerne-Champion girls’ basketball team went .500 in tournament play and also lost a conference game. The Chargers currently have a 9-5 record.

In recent action, Boerne-Champion hosted Canyon on Nov. 30 and took a 38-30 loss. B-C's senior Khiara Flugence was the only player in double figures with 14 points to go along with eight boards and a steal.

On Dec. 2 Boerne-Champion beat Lorena 50-37 in tournament play. The Chargers were led by senior Kristen Borgerding’s 20 points and four rebounds. Flugence and junior Madyson Marquard also hit double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.

On Dec. 3 the Chargers beat the Gatesville Hornets 60-15 in a tournament matchup. Florence scored 11 points and tallied 12 boards in a nice double/double performance. Fellow senior Borgerding had 12 points and four rebounds to go along with two steals.

Also on Dec. 3 the Fairfield Eagles handily defeated the Chargers 53-20 in tournament play. Borgerding led the way with eight points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal.

On Dec. 4 Boerne-Champion was beaten by Coronado 62-57 in a tournament game. Boerne-Champion was led by Marquard’s 20 points, three boards and five steals. Flugence put up 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals and an assist in the win. Shooting was the name of the game as the rest of the game was fairly even statistically. Coronado shot 48% from the field and 73% from the free throw line. Boerne-Champion shot only 46% from the line and 45% from the field.
