The Boerne girls’ basketball team is off to a great start with an 11-3 record.

Going back a month, Boerne's Lady Greyhounds beat Leander 47-35 on Nov. 13, in a game where the team had an 8-0 run and never looked back. Boerne shot 42% from the field compared to 29% for Leanders. The Greyhounds also had 10 assists compared to just one for Leander.

Boerne had a 65-32 victory over Edison on Nov. 16 where Boerne out-rebounded Edison 49 to 24. Boerne shot 44% from the field compared to Edison’s 25%. Defense was a huge factor as Boerne had 18 steals compared to 11 for Edison. They also blocked four shots while Edison did not record one.

Boerne then won three straight tournament games. On Nov. 18 Boerne posted a blowout 70-22 victory over the Sam Houston Hurricanes in the tournament-opening game. On Nov. 19 Boerne faced Smithson Valley in their second tournament game and won 53-38. On Nov. 20 Boerne closed the tourney out and knocked off Burges 47-38.

On Nov. 22 Boerne traveled to Highlands and picked up a nice road win by a score of 67-58. Boerne was able to win despite an incredible game by Janiah Perkins of Highlands, who put up 34 points and was the only Owl in double figures.

On Nov. 30 Boerne traveled to Judson and fell 37-30 in a game where Judson never trailed. It was 21-11 at halftime and despite the Greyhounds putting together a solid fourth quarter, outscoring Judson 14-9, the Rockets were able to fend off the Greyhounds for the victory.

On Dec. 7 Boerne was topped by Wagner 58-51. Boerne outrebounded Wagner 43 to 31 and 12 assists compared to nine for Wagner, but the difference was shooting with Wagner going for 42% compared to 33% by Wagner.
