Valerie Lai's students learn about argumentative texts with letter assignment.
(MEDINA VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL — Feb. 16, 2023) — Giggles and "oohs" rippled throughout Valerie Lai's seventh grade reading classroom as students were given their assignment.
The author's purpose assignment: Break up an animated character couple, such as Disney's Minnie and Mickey Mouse or Frozen's Anna and Kristoff.
Students intently worked in pairs to draft their argumentative texts, using strategies they have been learning.
