’Runners hit the road for Saturday morning contest against Army

SEPTEMBER 9, 2022 — UTSA will be eyeing its first win of the football season when it travels to West Point, New York, this weekend to face the Army Black Knights. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. CST on Saturday, September 10, at Michie Stadium.

This will mark the first trip to the Empire State for the Roadrunners’ football program. UTSA (0-1) hopes to bounce back after a heartbreaking triple-overtime 37-35 defeat to the University of Houston in the Alamodome last weekend. Army (0-1) is also seeking its first win after falling to Coastal Carolina by a score of 38-28 last Saturday.

This weekend’s game will be UTSA’s third meeting with Army. The Black Knights won both matchups in San Antonio in 2019 and 2020. However, the Roadrunners are 2-0 in road openers since Jeff Traylor was named UTSA’s head coach, notching a 37-30 triumph over Illinois in 2021 and an exhilarating 51-48 double-overtime victory over Texas State in 2020.

Despite falling just short in a tremendous effort against Houston, UTSA is carrying some positive momentum into Saturday’s contest. Quarterback Frank Harris and kicker Jared Sackett earned Conference USA Player of the Week accolades for their performances last weekend. Harris captured C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career, while Sackett was named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time as a Roadrunner. Harris accounted for 400 yards of offense and four touchdowns against Houston. Meanwhile, Sackett successfully kicked two clutch field goals, including one to send the game into overtime.

Saturday's game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network. Jason Knapp will provide play-by-play commentary alongside analyst Ross Tucker and reporter Tina Cervasio. The radio broadcast will air live on Ticket 760 AM in the San Antonio area and on SiriusXM app channel 986. Andy Everett (play-by-play), Jay Riley (analyst) and Pat Evans (reporter) will call the action. The pregame show will begin at 9 a.m. and there will be a 45-minute postgame show. The radio broadcast also can be heard online at Ticket760.com and via the iHeartRadio and The Varsity Network apps.
