City of Helotes recently issued the following announcement.
The Helotes Chamber Foundation will be celebrating the “Average Joe” while raising money for the Helotes Chamber Foundation.
“We are shamelessly proud to host the 3rd Annual Helotes 0.5K Challenge,” stated Brad Graves, Chairman. “That’s right, 0.5K, that’s 546 yards or roughly 50 trips to the refrigerator!”
We would like to thank all of our sponsors for supporting our 3rd Annual Helotes 0.5K Challenge, especially Frost Bank, Helotes Economic Development Corporation, and Busted Sandal Brewing for being our top sponsors. This event would not be possible without generous donors like them!
A Race for the Rest of us will invade Old Town Helotes at 14391 Old Bandera Rd., Helotes TX. 78023 from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 23rd. Onsite registration will begin at 9:30am.
“The Helotes Area Chamber couldn’t resist bringing this fun, funny, and foolish event to Old Town Helotes all while raising money for local charities,” said Graves. “Everyone wins with this, uh, challenge!”
This fun and short … “uh”, race, will parody traditional 5K and obstacle events. There will be rigorous challenges along the grueling 546-yard course, such as kiddie pool mud pits, golf cart tire flips, a 7-foot limbo and a corn maze. There will also be a carb-loading rehydration station at the halfway point offering coffee and donuts, along with a burpee station where you can win a trophy for the best fizzy drink burp.
Tickets are available now at www.helotespoint5k.com starting at $25.00 each, which includes a free beer at the start and one at the finish, sodas for the kiddos, along with a cool t-shirt, bumper sticker, swag bag, and a finisher medal. For participants who don’t feel they can finish the … “uh” run, they can upgrade to VIP for an additional $25. VIP’s will receive an awesome ride in our open air golf cart to the finish line, access to additional VIP refreshments at the after party, VIP Parking and even more swag! Can’t manage to muster the energy to get out of bed and, uh, run, or don’t have the time? You can still pretend like you participated.
