City of Seguin issued the following announcement on Dec. 11
As a result of rising COVID-19 cases in Seguin and Guadalupe County in recent weeks, Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen has made the decision to cancel all events held on City property, effective Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020. The event cancellations will extend through Feb. 1, 2021.
This announcement includes bookings at the Seguin Events Complex, which will halt reservations beginning Dec. 16, 2020 for the Coliseum and the Fairground facilities. Customers will receive full refunds for all facility bookings impacted by this public health emergency.
Mayor Dodgen stated this decision was made based on the recent influx of COVID-19 hospitalizations at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, as well as the steady rise in COVID-19 cases being reported in Seguin.
“Public safety and what is best for our community drives my decision,” said Mayor Dodgen. “I want us all to be safe and healthy, so please take care of each other and be mindful of personal behaviors.”
Mayor Dodgen continued by saying, “So, again personal responsibility and remembering that we are a community and depend on each for health and safety at this time is paramount. We can do it…..together!”
Because the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid, ever-changing health crisis, the City will review case trends in late January 2021 to determine if the event cancellations can be lifted.
