Two museums in Bandera and one library in Lakehills were among recipients of almost $530,000 in community grants recently awarded by the Lower Colorado River Authority.

The LCRA website states Community Development Partnership Program grants were given in the amount of $25,000 for a New Spain art wing at the Bandera Natural History Museum, $6,596 for energy-efficient windows for the Frontier Times Museum and $3,683 for new mobile bookshelves for the Lakehills Area Library. The three grants were part of 27 CDPP grants distributed during LCRA’s most recent grant cycle.

“These grants support projects that make a difference in communities throughout our service area,” LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson said. “The recipients tell us time and again many of these projects wouldn’t be possible without the grants, but that’s particularly true this year, when so many nonprofits had to cancel or cut back on fundraising efforts because of the pandemic.”
