Students attending the University of Texas at San Antonio have been provided $1 million from USAA to fund scholarships.
These scholarships are aimed at providing low and moderate-income families with tuition relief for minority students. The $1 million contribution is coming after the USAA already made a contribution of $100,000 this year for COVID-19 relief.
The funds will go toward UTSA's Bold Promise program. This program is designed to increase access to educational resources and tuition for families from Texas in low-income and underserved communities. About 1 in 5 freshmen currently at the university are enrolled in the program. The Bold Promise program is also funded by federal and state grants.
“I am sincerely grateful for our longtime relationship with USAA," UTSA President Taylor Eighmy said. "Their continued support makes it possible for UTSA to create an environment focused on student success. USAA’s generosity is having a life-changing impact on so many Roadrunners, helping us to remove the financial hurdles standing between our students and their college degrees.”
USAA has made several contributions in the past few years and looks to continue helping students at the university gain increased access to the resources that they need.
