The Bandera Natural History Museum has received a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Bandera Electric Cooperative to assist in building a new exhibit within the museum.
The funds will go toward helping the museum add a New Spain art collection that will include art pieces, pottery, and other items of cultural significance. The grant will fund a stone exterior in the new wing, while the other $300,000 in matching funds put forth by the museum will go toward other components of the exhibit.
“The grant will allow us to put up rock on the metal building so it will match the exterior of the existing museum," Maggie Schumacher, museum director of operations, said. "It will approve the appearance by 100 percent. I would say this grant allows us to finish the project correctly.”
The contents of the new exhibit have been donated by generous partners of the museum.
