City of San Antonio launches COVID-19 workforce recovery program

The City of San Antonio has joined Workforce Solutions Alamo, Alamo Colleges, Project Quest, Restore Education, Family Service, Chrysalis Ministries, and SA Works to launch the Train For Jobs SA Program.

According to the City of San Antoniothe program has been designed to provide free workforce training and education opportunities to San Antonio residents working in sectors that have been the most impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis including hospitality, food service, and retail. San Antonio residents will need to provide documentation to show evidence that they are a resident of the city and authorized to work in the United States. Residents will also need to confirm that they have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a skills and career assessment, qualifying residents will be eligible for training in one of the following categories including high school equivalency preparation, short-term training, long-term training, or on-the-job training.

Qualified participants may be eligible to receive stipends of $15 per hour for time spent in an approved training program. Participants must take at least six hours of training and will receive a maximum of $450 a week.
