Election Night in the Lone Star State on July 14 had some very close contests across Bexar County.
Over 114,000 total votes were cast with more than 31,600 of those votes being cast on Election Day July 14. Election night ended in some close races for state Republicans.
For Representative of District 20, Mauro Garza received a total of 7,162 votes beating Republican rival, Gary Allen who received 4,762 votes.
For District 23, Raul Reyes received 4,918 votes and challenger Tony Gonzales received 7,401 votes.
For District 35, "Guillermo" William Hayward received 1,802 votes. Hayward's challenger, Jenny Garcia Sharon, received 1,520 votes in the runoff.
For State Board of Education District 5, Robert Morrow received 7,065 while Lani Popp received a staggering 20,803 votes.
For County Commissioner of District 3, Tom Rickhoff won
11,606 votes while Trish DeBerry won 13,806 votes.
For county chair, Cynthia Brehm received 14,293 votes while John Austin received 27,804 votes.
