Gov. Greg Abbott's Public Safety Office will be granting $41 million in federal funds to assist Texas cities and counties in response to the COVID-19 crisis, from which the City of Grey Forest will receive over $10,500.

"I thank our federal partners for their support and ongoing collaboration as we work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Texas," Abbott stated on his website. "This funding is critical to helping local governments protect Texans and combat the spread of the virus in our communities. The State of Texas will continue to work with the federal government to help meet the needs of our cities and counties as they respond to COVID-19."

Funds are granted under the CESF Program and will be used by officials to fund first responder pay and hazardous pay for those on the front lines. Additionally, funds will go toward equipment and supplies supporting teleworking technologies and social distancing education.

Funds will also go toward helping officers who hold inmates that are awaiting transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
