The San Antonio Food Bank and Hill Country Family Services served more than 500 people in nearby Kendall County on April 18.
The organization arrived at 7 a.m., according to News 4 San Antonio, and all food was distributed by 1:30 p.m. Organizers spent days planning for the effort.
“We were really worried because in San Antonio they have been seeing 10,000 people show up for mobile mega food distribution and, to be quite honest, the needs in Bexar County, just based on population numbers, superseded our needs here in Kendall County,” Staci Almager, executive director of Hill Country Family Services, told News 4 San Antonio. "But we able to work together and we made it happen and we are thrilled."
Comfort Table also participated in the event, with volunteers following CDC social distancing guidelines. Families received enough groceries received to last a week.
