Those eagerly awaiting the renowned Fashion in the Hills fashion show will have good reason to wait a bit longer. Popular Texas hotel The William has repurposed its efforts into helping the Kendall County Women's Shelter in its quest to provide shelter and sanitary items for women in need.
The fashion show originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18 has been indefinitely suspended so the hotel can provide assistance with the shelter's social distance health initiative. Fashion in the Hills ticket buyers will be completely refunded and encouraged to use funds to support Kendall County Women's Shelter.
Scarlett Ramey, MS, RDN, CD, owner and CEO of The William, did not mince words when it came to expressing her full-fledged support of the initiative.
"We are prioritizing our town's need right now, and have allocated our time, energy and resources to helping local charities in need of supplies at this time," Ramey told EIN. "We have decided to benefit Kendall County Women's Shelter with not only a sanitary needs drive, but also are giving our rooms to the women who actually need them. Whoever donates the most will be the name on a room we give a woman in need, as our women's shelters can easily get crowded."
The William and Kendall County Women's Shelter are accepting Clorox disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, Lysol disinfectant spray, disinfectant all-purpose cleaner, disinfectant bathroom cleaner, napkins, toilet paper, paper towels and disinfectant floor cleaner.
Ramsey is quite confident in the decision to cancel the show regardless of the financial ramifications.
"We will get out of this, I know, and on with the show going forward, but I just know canceling this show and rerouting our resources is the right move," Ramey told EIN. "Thank you to all who have decided to use their refunds to aid in this relief, and those who have brought supplies directly to The William. Some have used their own emergency supplies, and for this I could not be more grateful!"
Donations can be made at The William, 170 S. Main Street, Boerne or Kendall County Women’s Shelter Administration Office, 930 N. School Rd, Boerne.
