CITY OF CASTLE HILLS: Declaration of a Local State of Disaster and Public Health Emergency - Castle Hills

Covid

City of Castle Hills issued the following announcement on March 19

Under pursuant to Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code, the Texas Disaster Act of 1975, as the presiding officer of the City of Castle Hills City Council, the City’s governing body, the Mayor is designated as the emergency management director of the City of Castle Hills and may exercise the powers granted of the Governor on an appropriate local scale. As a result, Mayor JR  Trevino has executed a declaration for a  local state of disaster and public health emergency for the City of Castle Hills aimed at protecting public health and containing the spread of COVID-19.

Pursuant to §418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code, the state of disaster and public health emergency shall continue for seven (7) days unless continued or renewed by the City Council. The City of Castle Hills will hold a special City Council meeting next week to possibly extend or renew this order.

We will continue to update the community as necessary on other potential changes to procedures and protocols based on any developments related to concerns with COVID-19 which might impact the City of Castle Hills, if necessary.

Future meetings and other City events scheduled to occur will be evaluated in the near future. Any updates or changes will be provided to residents via our City website and social media pages as they become available. As Mayor, I will continue to work with the City Council, City Manager, department heads to keep our City moving forward and safe.
