Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation ranks 3rd in Kendall County for nursing home size in Q1

Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation ranked as the third largest nursing home in Kendall County during the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility provided 96 beds in total—seven more than the county average for the period. It served an average of 66.6 residents each day during this timeframe.

Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation received a 1 out of 5 overall rating from CMS, which falls below the Texas nursing home average rating of 2.7.

Town and Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was the largest nursing home in Kendall County during the quarter, with 126 available beds, followed by Cibolo Creek in second with 120 beds.

As of the first quarter of 2026, Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation had incurred $156,748 across four fines and faced four penalties.

Kendall County, Texas, had a total of three for-profit nursing homes.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that the nation’s population of older adults continues to rise while younger age groups decline. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The older adult segment has expanded significantly over the past century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A study from 2021 estimates that nearly half of these older adults—around 28 million people—will need long-term services and supports. More than a third might eventually require nursing home care, the study found.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
