During the first quarter of 2026, Cibolo Creek ranked as Kendall County’s second largest nursing home, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.
The facility had a capacity of 120 beds—31 more than the Kendall County average in early 2026—and cared for an average of 88.3 residents in that time frame.
The CMS rated Cibolo Creek at 1 out of 5 overall, below Texas’s statewide nursing home average rating of 2.7.
In that quarter, Town and Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was the largest in Kendall County, offering 126 beds. Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation ranked third, with 96 beds available.
By the end of the first quarter of 2026, Cibolo Creek had incurred one fine totaling $13,627 and had two penalties assessed.
Kendall County, Texas, had two publicly operated nursing homes in total.
U.S. Census Bureau data indicates the nation’s older adult population is rising, while younger age groups see declines. Between 2020 and 2024, the population 65 and older grew by 13%, as the under-18 population dropped by 1.7%. Over the last century, the country’s older adult demographic expanded significantly, increasing from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
Research from 2021 finds that nearly half of those 65 and older—about 28 million individuals—may require long-term services, with over a third expected to eventually need nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
